Chrysler Syncreon had a problem – the trailers pulling into their docks were as much as 6 – 8” higher than the dock. The Edge of Docks in place just weren’t solving the problem for two reasons – 1) they were only 6’ wide but the trailer openings were 8.5’ wide. Full width access was necessary. And 2) they were not long enough to compensate for the severe height difference. The obstructed access was causing a great deal of damage to the dollies and racks.
Chrysler’s original plan was to pull out the 11 EODs, cut pits and install new wide access Jumbo levelers. This would have cost them an estimated $500K. Applied Handling’s value engineered solution was to install wide access Top of Docks directly over the EODs. This gave full access to the trailer and extended the ramp into the trailer from 1′ to 10′ without making any costly changes to the building, which was the owner’s request. This solution was fast and effective and the investment was much less expensive – approx. $157K.

Energy conservation and protecting finished goods from rain and snow have never been more important. A properly designed dock enclosure will keep the outside elements out during the loading cycle. Frommelt seals and shelters offer unique solutions, such as Firefighter Technology, for protecting against trailer marker light fires at the dock. The Eliminator Gapmaster provides full access loading while sealing the trailer hinge gap.
